Laila is certainly named right. She was born this tiny
little puppy and I thought there was no way for her to live. Her bigger littermates kept pushing her aside. As
I finally decided to get some sleep, I wrapped this little puppy in one of my sweatshirts and tucked her in
the crook of my arm. I just didn't want her to die cold and alone.
When I woke up a few hours later, I was amazed
that she was still alive. I put her on a heating pad and
helped her nurse for the first 24 hours. After that she was on her own and willing to do battle with anyone
who was willing to get in her way. To watch her trot around the yard now you'd never know.
Laila finished her championship completely from
the Bred-By class with 3 majors wins and breed over specials. She is so much fun to show; we've decided to let
her continue on in the show ring as a juniors dog. Look for her and Brittany at the upcoming Tulsa Roundup dog
shows as they make their debut.
Laila and Brittany
are such a beautiful team! They quickly earned their 3 first place novice wins
and are currently ranked the #1 Akita Jr. Handler in the country (Oct 2011).
They were awarded Best Jr at the 2011 Akita Club of America National Specialty
in Tucson Arizona.
